The AORN Foundation, a 501(c)(3) corporation, was created in 1991 as the charitable and educational arm of the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses, AORN. Tax-deductible contributions assist the Foundation support AORN's mission and programs.

The Foundation provides critical funding for leadership development and scholarships that prepare a new generation of nurses for challenges that lie ahead as the demand for sugical care increases. The Foundation advances the profession by investing in research and education to improve surgical patient safety and outcomes. Most importantly, donations support and recognize the nurses who, every day, perform acts of heroism that impact the lives of patients and families throughout the world.

Gifts to the AORN Foundation support the nurses who make surgery safe by funding:

• Scholarships to prepare the next generation
• Education grants to develop resources that provide lifelong learning opportunities
• Research studies to enhance patient safety and clinical outcomes

The AORN Foundation is governed by a Board of Trustees, perioperative nurses, surgeons, industry executives, and other distinguised individuals, who are appointed by the AORN Board of Directors.
