Does the AORN Foundation support perioperative legislation efforts?

The AORN Foundation’s focus is to advance patient safety through funding nursing scholarships, research and educational resources. Although we are unable to fund legislative efforts, AORN’s Government Affairs Department, at the direction of the Board of Directors and with guidance from the National Legislative Committee, advances and supports RN Circulator legislation in several states and assists State Coordinators, State Councils, and AORN Grassroots in their advocacy to support this and other AORN legislative priorities. This year the legislative priorities expanded to include health care reform. Government Affairs staff monitors nursing and health care laws and regulations. Perioperative nurses need to be an active participant in communicating with elected officials. Sign up to receive AORN Advocacy Update the monthly email with the latest AORN advocacy activity and tips for you to be an effective perioperative legislative advocate.
