RNFA Competency
Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) Competency Statements
Obtain a copy of the RNFA competency statements which were originally published in the 3rd Edition of the RN First Assistant Guide to Practice (2007).
In 2011, at the request of the many members, these statements were incorporated into the RNFA job description and the role-specific performance evaluation tool for the RNFA. These new documents may be used by currently practicing RNFAs, health care organizations where RNFAs are employed or have clinical privileges, and educators. These two new documents are intended to replace and be used in the same manner as the previously published RNFA Competency Statements.
The job description and the role-specific performance evaluation tool for the RNFA can be purchased from the AORN Bookstore as a portion of the Perioperative Job Descriptions and Competency Evaluation Tools.
The job description and the role-specific performance evaluation tool for the RNFA will be incorporated into the 5th edition of the Core Curriculum for the RN First Assistant currently in production and due for publication fall of 2013.
