Individual Awards Selection Process
- Individual awards are selected by the Awards Committee, which is appointed annually by the AORN President and approved by the Board of Directors. The Awards Committee is responsible for reviewing all application packets that meet the requirements that are received for the year.
- All recognition items for the individual awards will be presented annually at Congress. Recipients' names will be added to perpetual plaques and will be displayed at AORN Headquarters.
Eligibility for Individual Awards
- The applicant must be a current member of AORN.
- Applicants may apply for more than one award unless applying for the Award for Excellence. Award for Excellence applicants are eligible to submit applications for that award only.
- Headquarters staff, Board of Directors, and Awards Committee members are ineligible for awards while holding any of these positions.
Chapter Awards
The Chapter Excellence Awards recognize and spotlight chapter accomplishments in a variety of areas. AORN's network of more than 350 chapters serves as the grassroots of the Association and the immediate resource for supporting our members' perioperative practice. Chapters are integral to bringing AORN's mission, vision, and standards of practice to hospitals, health care facilities, schools of nursing, and local communities. In each size category, chapters receiving first, second, and third place scores will receive Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards respectively. One chapter will be selected as Chapter of the Year representing the best submission among all size categories.
The awards submissions will be judged by the Awards Committee. The committee is responsible for reviewing all chapter awards submissions received for the year that meet the requirements and for selecting recipients of the awards.
