About AORN Chapters
The Importance of AORN Chapters
The 350 local AORN chapters in the United States are the building blocks of the Association. Members are introduced to the activities and opportunities offered by AORN at the local chapter level. Networking, education, and leadership development are just some of the benefits involved at the local chapter level.
How to Join a Local Chapter
When members join AORN, they can select the chapter of their choice; however, if they do not select a specific chapter, one close to the member's home address is automatically assigned.
AORN members have access to a National Directory of Chapters. This directory allows members to find information about chapters in their area. Listings may include information about chapter meetings and contacts.
Members can select a different chapter if their personal needs call for an adjustment by calling AORN Customer Service at 800-755-2676, Ext 1.
eChapter and Member-at-Large
AORN has an online chapter, eChapter, to meet all of our member needs. This virtual chapter is designed to provide networking, education, scholarships, leadership mentoring, and a discussion group.
Individuals who are not within 50 miles of a local chapter or who do not have regular access to the Internet, are designated as a Member-At-Large (MAL) and are not assigned to a chapter.
Individual Chapter Websites and OR Nurse Link
Many of the AORN Chapters have developed their own websites or use OR Nurse Link, where they post documents and share information with members all around the country. All of the AORN Chapter websites are open for anyone to view; Chapter groups on OR Nurse Link are available to chapter members only.
Resources for Chapter Leaders
The Chapter Resource Center provides chapter leaders with valuable information about chapter governance and management. We have put this information online to provide a fast and easy way to locate information about guidelines, bylaws, elections, chapter rosters, and to submit required forms online.
