Chapter Affiliation

AORN chapters are not chartered by the national Association; therefore, individual chapters have a degree of independence in how they manage their affairs. However, chapters are expected to comply with Chapter Accountability Standards in order to provide chapter members with an identified level of service for their chapter dues. These standards are included in chapter formation guidelines and appear in the Chapter Resource Manual that is provided for chapter presidents each year. Chapters can be formed when a group of registered nurses, who are members of the Association, are interested in meeting for the purpose of conducting AORN business and having representation at the House of Delegates.

Chapter boundaries usually encompass a 50-mile radius. Guidelines for chapter formation are available in the "Supporting Documents" section on this web page, to the left.
