Overview
Perioperative nurses who are interested in integrated health practices (eg, relaxation, mind-body imaging techniques) and implementing holistic nursing concepts in the perioperative setting. 

Purpose Statements

• Enhance communication among nurses who practice holistic nursing or techniques in complementary therapies in a perioperative setting.
• Promote specialty education sessions on integrated health practices.
• Serve as a resource for other perioperative nurses who are interested in integrating techniques such as relaxations, nutritional, and mind-body imaging therapy in inpatient or outpatient perioperative settings.
• Support self care techniques among health care providers.
• Facilitate research projects that relate to the application of integrated health practices in perioperative settings, and
• Promote safe patient care through the application of AORN Standards & Recommended Practices in perioperative setting that use integrated health practices.

Logo Symbolism
The IHP logo was designed by member Norrie MacIlraith, RN, MS, CNS. The outer circle represents life continuity. The inner circle represents the binding of the health care continuum. The dark triangle represents the individual's mind, body, and spirit. It touches both circles because of direct interaction. The darker star represents traditional medical practices. The lighter star represents all the integrated practice applications. Both stars are superimposed upon one another to indicate the meshing of philosophies. The lettering identifies the Integrated Health Practices Specialty Assembly within the outer circle binding all processes.
