Get the basic skills and tools needed to successfully manage every aspect of an ambulatory surgery facility, from daily operations to regulatory requirements, with our ASC Administrator Certificate Program. Many ASC administrators have used this course to prepare for the Certified Administrator Surgery Center (CASC) examination given through CCI.
The comprehensive program blends the benefits of a live seminar with follow-up online learning. Here’s what this course offers:
- A great networking opportunity, as the 1.5-day program promotes lively discussion with experts and allows you to engage your peers. (Some topics will be covered by web conferencing.)
- Convenient, self-paced learning which allows you up to four months following the face-to-face conference to complete 11 online modules. Online material can be printed for easier review.
The coursework consists of post-tests and discussion questions that cover the material presented in each module. After successfully completing the 11 modules (100% score is needed to pass), you will be awarded a Certificate of Completion and 52 contact hours; some or all may be eligible for administrator education units by the Board of Ambulatory Surgery Certification, provider #0102. The learner must complete the evaluation at the end of the course to get CEs/AEUs and the certificate. The post-tests can be taken several times to get a passing score. AORN offers the option to transfer to the next session for a fee if for some reason the learner cannot complete the course within the four-month timeframe.
Topics include:
- What you need to know to understand important regulatory requirements and how to best work with their issuing agencies
- Human resource issues and organization structures of ambulatory surgery centers
- Why risk management is important and how to mitigate risk in your facility
- How to meet Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) pharmaceutical requirements in the ambulatory setting
- What a quality care environment fosters, such as patient satisfaction, communication styles, and leadership
- The importance of strategic planning to the long-term success for your facility
- A better understanding of finance, budget development, and budget planning
- Effective strategies to market your facility
- Cost containment and inventory management
Who Should Enroll?
- RNs, physicians, or anyone actively involved or interested in management positions in an ambulatory surgery center. You do not have to be a RN to enroll.
- Anyone with previous business experience, but limited experience working in an ambulatory surgery setting.
- Those interested in advancing their ambulatory surgery center careers through continuing education.
- Ambulatory facility owners who want a better understanding of the ambulatory business.
Here's what past attendees have said about the course. . .
Not only did the modules give us the main points of the topics, they also gave a detailed list of resources that we can use to further investigate the issues or concerns encountered in the day-to-day operations of an ASC.
The program was simple to do and well organized. I enjoyed the fact that I could do it at my own pace.
The topics were right on target, and provided an outstanding introduction. The availability of the resource tools will be invaluable moving forward in my future.
