AORN knows that you want to deliver the best care to your patients. Continuing education through AORN will arm you with the knowledge you need to enhance your delivery of care. You can purchase learning modules for group education or for yourself.
Individual Learning Modules
The answer sheet, evaluation form, and payment must be returned to AORN to receive nursing contact hours. A minimum score of 80% must be achieved to receive nursing contact hours. AORN will send each applicant who successfully completes the study a certificate of completion with the awarded contact hours.

Care of the Elderly Patient
There are no contact hours available for this module.
The aging population continues to increase and the perioperative nurse needs to be prepared to care for the elderly patient. This module provides information on the physiologic changes in the elderly including age related changes to major organ systems.
Positioning the Surgical Patient (1.0 CH) Recently Updated!
Patient positioning is critical to preventing injury during surgery. This module provides information about positioning techniques and their rationale as well as an exercise to help you implement these concepts in your facility.
Preparing the Preceptor (2.7 CH) Recently Updated!
Preceptors have a difficult challenge as they are responsible for developing safe, effective perioperative nurses. This module will enhance your teaching and mentoring skills as well as provide an opportunity to use applicable facility policies to further define the preceptor's role in your facility.
This module is included in Periop 101: A Core Curriculum. If your facility is a Periop 101 licensee, you do not need to purchase this module.
Perioperative Care of the Pediatric Patient

Surgery during childhood can be an experience that has lasting effects. Your goal as a member of the perioperative team is to provide care that is free from adverse effects and to help the child through the experience. This module gives you an understanding of the stages of growth and development and their impact on perioperative nursing care. It also provides a nursing process to identify risk factors, nursing diagnoses, outcomes, and specific activities for taking care of neonatal and pediatric surgical patients.

This self paced, online course will expand your knowledge of fire prevention and your role as a perioperative nurse in the prevention of surgical fires. This course can be adapted to any setting, whether you work in an inpatient or ambulatory surgery center.

Accreditation
AORN is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation (ANCC).
Most of the AORN education modules are designed to run within a one hour timeframe. They consist of PowerPoint slides on CD-ROM and include a post test, answer sheet, and evaluation form.
