Introduction
There are numerous critical elements in maintaining a safe environment of care for both patients and health care workers. This module will address many of these elements including security, ergonomics, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), hazardous chemicals, and surgical smoke plume.

Purpose
This course provides guidance for providing a safe environment of care and assists perioperative registered nurses in the identification of potential hazards in the practice setting. 
 
Objectives

  • Identify all potential hazards in the perioperative environment.
  • Identify ways to minimize all potential hazards in the perioperative environment.
  • Identify how creating and following policies and procedures contribute to a safe environment of care.

Course Requirements
To receive 1.5 contact hours for this course, you must achieve mastery of the content and submit an evaluation as instructed at the end of the course. This course contains 57 questions.
