Periop 101
What is Periop 101?
Periop 101 is a program used by educators to train new perioperative nurses. It consists of 25 online learning modules delivered through AORN's e-learning platform. Each learning module includes required reading and suggested videos from AORN's Perioperative Nursing Video Library. Periop 101 is designed as a blended program to be given in conjunction with a clinical preceptorship. The Periop 101 Demo allows you to preview the course and the learning components included in the course.
"Periop 101 is an excellent program—very thorough. It provides such a solid base of knowledge for OR nurses! The program offers standardization in training, as well as excellent validation of the training, which is a tremendous plus."
- Becky Byrd, RN, BSN, CNOR, Wayne Memorial Hospital

“We utilize Periop 101 to educate our new RNs because formal education is a basic need for OR nurses—if you do not know why you do something, you cannot be a critical thinker. Our RN interns who have gone through the program are now confident and competent RNs fulfilling the OR nurse role. Our staff respect the ease with which those nurses assimilate into the OR environment and their ability to practice safe patient care.”
- Marilyn Hunter, RN, PhD, CNOR, Halifax Health Medical Center
