Welcome General Session 4882 Transitioning from the OR to Business, Industry, or Consulting Patricia Mews, RN, MHA, CNOR As nurse consultants, we continually hear this question from other perioperative nurses: "How does a nurse become a Perioperative Nurse Consultant?" Some perioperative nurses are looking to business, industry, and/or consulting in their career path but are not sure if they have the skills necessary to transition into the health care corporate world. What skills are necessary to consider pursing a nurse consultant position? What talent/expertise do you already have that may be useful to industry? Where do you begin? Whom do you contact? This session will cover key elements to consider when pursuing a position as a nurse consultant. It will help to identify whether you have the qualification or expertise to fulfill a nurse consultant position, and it will also discuss how and where to get started. |
