Thank you for attending the 2008 Congress in Anaheim, California this year. AORN was pleased to welcome thousands of perioperative nurses to this year’s 55th annual AORN Congress.

Approximately 7,000 attendees came together and joined their colleagues from countries from all over the world. AORN welcomed attendees from many national and international locations such as Argentina, Barbados, Bahamas, England, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Malaysia, Philippines, and more.

The 2008 Congress theme of Share your Passion, Illuminate our Profession was truly brought to life during this magnificent event and inspired the international mix of attendees to reach new levels of inspiration by enjoying outstanding education, viewing cutting edge OR technology, and sharing a fun week of networking and play with their fellow nurses.

Did you know that all of the capabilities of the Congress Contact Hour Verification and Message Center computers are available online. Enter your contact hours and access all the other onsite Message Center functionality through May 9, 2008 from the comfort of your home, office, or anywhere else with internet access.

You can submit your Congress verification of attendance and session evaluations for contact hour history, enter your exhibit floor contact hours, and more.

Congress Digital Library from SoundImages
Keep the entire Congress at your fingertips! Contact SoundImages and purcase the full Congress Digital Library* containing all recorded sessions accompanied by speaker visual presentation. Individual sessions are available in the following formats: CD, MP3 Audio Download, MP3 audio download with speaker visual presentation, and DVD. *The difference between the Education Session Handout CD provided to every attendee as part of Congress Resources and the SoundImages Digital Library is important to understand. The SoundImages Library contains the live, digitally recorded audio presented at Congress in combination with the speaker PowerPoint slides. The free handouts CD in Congress Resources contains only speaker slides. The SoundImages Library makes a very nice reference and teaching tool and can function as an attendance surrogate for your colleagues who cannot attend this year.

What is Your AORN IQ? Congress Contest Winner
Congratulations to Chirstine Halowell, RN, CNOR from Mesa, Arizona! Christine belongs to the AORN Salt River Chapter 0303 and is the lucky winner of the What is Your AORN IQ? contest. Congress attendees were provided with a game piece asking a series of questions about various AORN products and services. The answers were located in various areas throughout the Anaheim Convention Center. After the show, a winner was identified out of all the eligible entries via a random drawing. As the winner, Christine will receive a $200 AORN Bookstore gift certificate.

Congress Lost and Found
Each year several items are turned in during Congress with the goal of reuniting them with their owners. At the end of Congress, unclaimed items are packed up and shipped back to the AORN Home Office in Denver, Colorado. If you lost an item during Congress and want to check if someone has turned it in, please contact Sandy Abbott via email or phone at 1-800-755-2676, Ext. 209.
