| Ambulatory Surgery Administrator Certificate Program |
AORN's Ambulatory Surgery Administrator Certificate Program is the only comprehensive program of its kind. It is designed to provide you with the skills and tools you need to manage every aspect of an ambulatory facility, from daily operations to regulatory requirements.
Many ASC Administrators have used this course to prepare for the CASC exam.
Program Date: July 16-17, 2009 Denver, CO
How it Works
Come together with your peers to learn from experts in the field and each other. Then head home to finish the program through self-paced, online education.
- The program begins with a one day and a half face-to-face seminar. Attendance at all sessions is required to earn the certificate.
- Afterwards, begin the 11 self-paced online course modules and complete them within four months.
- After attending the seminar and completing all 11 modules, you will have earned 52 hours of AEU Credit or CE Contact Hours and will receive a Certificate of Completion.
- No lengthy term papers to research and write! The coursework consists of tests and discussion questions that cover the material presented in each module.
- Discuss topics with fellow students and colleagues. You'll learn how to make practical applications of the theories you learn in class!
Topics covered during this course include:
- Everything you need to know to understand important regulations and how to work with their issuing agencies
- Human resource issues and organization structures of ambulatory surgery centers
- Why risk management is important and how to minimize risk
- How to meet Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) pharmaceutical requirements in the ambulatory setting
- What a quality care environment includes, such as patient satisfaction, communication styles, and leadership
- The importance of strategic planning to the long-term success of your facility
- The ins and outs of finance, budgets, and budget planning
- And much more!
Who Should Enroll?
RNs, physicians, or anyone actively involved or interested in management positions in an ambulatory surgery center. You do not have to be a RN to enroll.
- Anyone with previous business experience, but limited experience working in an ambulatory surgery setting
- Those interested in advancing their ambulatory surgery center careers through continuing education
- Ambulatory facility owners who want a better understanding of the ambulatory business
What do the Students Say?
"I felt that the Ambulatory Surgery Administrator Certificate program provided a fundamental knowledge base, allowing me to perform my job effectively. Besides the class and online courses, I networked with other administrators taking the course. This was extremely beneficial and allowed me to communicate directly with other ASC's across the country. In my opinion, the course is effective. I passed the CASC exam on the first attempt, and after talking to other test attendees, I felt that the information provided in the course was pertinent to my job and the exam."
- Julie Shafer, RN, CNOR, CASC, Administrator, Spring Park Surgery Center, Davenport, IA
"The Ambulatory Certificate course included information that covered each area of the CASC examination in detail. In addition, there were specific resources listed for each module that allowed the learner to research further. This accommodated the seasoned and novice learner in the various areas covered."
- Darin Prescott, RN,BC, BSN, CNOR, CASC
