In order to work as a highly effective perioperative team, you have to put many different pieces into place. TeamSTEPPS® is designed to help healthcare professionals do just that. This evidence-based program teaches strategies, techniques, and tools to improve teamwork through more effective communication and reduce medical errors resulting in higher quality, safer patient care.
Upon completing this two-day course you will receive a set of ready-to-use materials and a training curriculum designed for you to successfully teach and integrate teamwork principles into practice. Your materials include fundamentals modules in text and presentation format, a pocket guide that corresponds with the essential version of the course, video vignettes to illustrate key concepts, and a supporting DVD on change management, coaching, and implementation. You will use these tools to teach the rest of your team how to use these tools every day to benefit teamwork and break down barriers.

Amy Halverson MD
Dr. Halverson is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital where she currently leads the TeamSTEPPS master training program. Dr. Halverson serves on the AORN Guidelines for Perioperative Practice Advisory Board. Dr. Halverson is returning as the lead faculty for the course. She presented the preconference program TeamSTEPPS® Master Training Course in March 2015 at the AORN Surgical Conference and EXPO.
Ellice Mellinger MS, BSN, RN, CNOR
Ellice is a Perioperative Education Specialist for AORN in Denver, Colorado. She is involved with educational program planning and development, and is a nurse lead for a variety of educational initiatives. She is also a TeamSTEPPS® master trainer.

Once You Have Registered: You will be sent an optional pre-work assessment tool to help you prepare for the two-day onsite course. Completing the pre-work can assist the faculty tailor the curriculum to your needs.

Training Session Information
