Renae Battie

Renae N. Battié, MN, RN, CNOR, is associate vice president, Perioperative and Gastrointestinal Services, at Franciscan Health System, Tacoma, Washington. She earned her bachelor of science in nursing and her master in nursing from the University of Washington, Seattle.

Battié has been a perioperative nurse for 36 years and a member of AORN for 33 years. She is a member of

She has been
• a member of the AORN Board of Directors (2010-2012),
• chair of the national Recommended Practices Committee (2009-2010),
• a member of the national PNDS (Perioperative Nursing Data Set) Task Force (2004-2009),
• a member of the national Recommended Practices Committee (2004-2005, 2007-2010),
• a member of the national PNDS Dashboard Task Force (2004-2007),
• chair of the national Recommended Practices Committee (2006-2007),
• chair of the Nominating Committee for AORN of Seattle (2011-2012), and
• a member of the Nominating Committee for AORN of Seattle (2009-2011).

In other leadership roles, Battié is
• co-chair of the Perioperative Materials Oversight Group at Franciscan Health System (FHS) (2010-present),
• chair of the Sterilization Oversight Committee at FHS (2011-present),
• leader of the perioperative Safety Summit Program at FHS (2012-present), and
• a preceptor to graduate students in the University of Washington Executive Master of Health Administration Program (2013-present).
She has been
• a member of the OR Manager Editorial Board (2008-2011).

In her community, Battié has been
• a participant in and volunteer fundraiser for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Bike MS (2013),
• a participant in and volunteer fundraiser for the World Bicycle Relief’s Redmond Bellingham Century Ride (2012),
• a participant in the Women Against Violence Everywhere Cycle the WAVE (2009-2010), and
• a volunteer fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association (2010).
