You're looking at the newly launched online version of AORN Management Connections, which will be delivered by e-mail to all AORN members who've provided an e-mail address and opt to continue receiving it.
What motivated the switch from print to electronic distribution for the monthly publication? Simple: the added power and flexibility e-mail distribution and Internet publishing bring to the table.
- In conjunction with AORN's recently updated Web site, the online Management Connections will serve as a direct link to the association's Web-based manager resources. See for yourself. In addition to up-to-the-minute news for perioperative managers, you'll find links to tool kits to help promote compliance with standardized patient safety practices, a wealth of evidence-based practice resources, including AORN recommended practices, standards and position statements, as well as links to nursing research topics.
- Individual stories and editorial features will include hot links that enable readers instantly to click through directly to source material—the latest clinical practice research, AORN educational resources, policy statements from healthcare organizations, government regulations and pending legislation, and a host of other resources useful to perioperative managers. No more struggling to type in awkward Web addresses.
- The economies of electronic publication, vis-a-vis printing and postage, allow AORN to distribute Management Connections to all its members who want to receive it, not just those with management and director titles. We all know perioperative managers aren't getting any younger. This will help aspiring RNs keep up with evolving practice standards, technologies and purchasing/supply issues they'll need to absorb to move up into management positions.
