Your recruiting efforts will directly strengthen the association and the professional development of your colleagues.

How Do You Get Started?
There is no sign-up process required - all members are already part of this program. 

Step 1: Tell your colleagues about the value you personally see in AORN and the particular aspects of AORN that you feel would benefit them in their position or specific specialty. As a member, you provide our number one testimony and connection to the perioperative community. (See complete list of benefits of membership.) Need additional ideas for recruiting? Step 2: Have your colleague join AORN using one of three methods. Provide your colleague with a copy of the downloadable Membership Application to submit by mail or fax; invite them to sign up using our toll free number 800-755-2676, Ext. 1; or have them join online at aorn.org/JoinNow. No matter how they sign up, you get credit.

Step 3: Enter your member ID number on the new member's application or provide your colleague with your ID number to enter when joining online or by phone. Don't forget this important step, as it is the only way to receive credit! (the member referral ID section is located in the top right of the application.)

Step 4: Earn your reward. AORN will provide you a quarterly mailing summarizing the number of members you have recruited within the quarter and your thank you reward(s). Be sure AORN has your current mailing address on record. Free Congress registration and one or three-year memberships will be awarded on an annual basis (i.e. cumulative 2009 awards will be processed in January 2010). NOTE: Your membership needs to be current during the quarter or year to be eligible for rewards.

Who is Eligible to Be a Member of AORN?
AORN membership is open to the following categories:

• Registered professional nurse
• Retired registered professional nurse
• Students who are pursuing education leading to eligibility to sit for the registered nurse licensing examination
• Associate (non-registered nurse) Members: individuals in health care industry, central service, health care administrator, materials management, informatics personnel, physician or pharmacist.

Who is Considered a New Member?
A new member must be a first-time member of AORN or a past member whose membership lapsed over six months ago.
