Wisconsin Hospitals Join to Prevent HACs and Readmissions
Publish Date: 2/15/2012
123 Wisconsin hospitals are participating in a national initiative designed to prevent hospital-acquired conditions (HACs) and reduce unnecessary readmissions. The Wisconsin Hospital Association’s Partners for Patients initiative is part of a quality initiative supported by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Earlier this year, CMS awarded $218 million to organizations that will develop Hospital Engagement Networks (HENs), including the American Hospital Association. The American Hospital Association has sub-contracted this hospital quality and safety improvement work to the Wisconsin Hospital Association, which has a high participation rate in its quality improvements network. Wisconsin perioperative nurses should reach out to their facility and offer assistance and perioperative expertise as this quality initiative begins its work of preventing HACs and reducing readmissions.
