APIC launches Targeting Zero campaign
to eradicate preventable infections

In December the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) announced a series of new educational initiatives aimed at eliminating healthcare-associated infections, including Clostridium difficile-associated disease and three infections that the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has classified as preventable occurrences.

Information technology linked to better health outcomes
Patients treated at hospitals that use information technology systems are more likely to have better health outcomes, according to a new Florida State University study that appears in the November/December issue of the Journal of Healthcare Management.
