Substance Abuse Database Updated
The National Directory of Drug and Alcohol Abuse Treatment Programs 2009 has been newly updated and is accessible and searchable online. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration announced on August 13, 2009, that the newly updated database provides information on more than 11,000 community substance abuse treatment programs in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and five US territories.

The database includes an inventory of public and private programs and a state-by-state directory of facilities that are licensed, certified or otherwise approved by state substance abuse agencies. The directory contains information about levels of care and types of facilities, including those with programs for adolescents, pregnant women, people with HIV/AIDS, or people with concurrent substance abuse and mental disorders. The online, searchable database is available here

OSHA Drug-Free Work Week is in October
The Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and the Department of Labor’s Working Partners for an Alcohol- and Drug-Free Workplace Program are raising awareness of Drug-Free Work Week, which takes place Oct. 19-25.

The three-year-old program is a public awareness campaign highlighting the fact that being drug free is a significant step in building workplace health and safety, and that there are programs available to help those who might be addicted.

Find more information on how to participate in Drug Free Work Week through the Working Partners Web site.
