Webinar: STERIS System 1 Issues and Updates
AORN is offering a webinar on Feb. 4 titled Steris System Issues and Updates to provide information as facilities work to develop transition plans for replacing the STERIS System 1 processor in light of the FDA’s Dec. 3 notice.
On Jan. 12 AORN released a news alert reporting the financial implications coming to light as facilities plan transition away from using the STERIS System 1 processor to reprocess endoscopes. And, initial reports indicate this financial outlook is not good.
According to one source, the overall costs associated with transitioning away from the STERIS System 1 will likely reach up to $1 million for a 200-bed in patient facility when taking into consideration expenses associated with replacement equipment and compatible instruments, installation and personnel training.
“When you consider this investment that a single hospital will have to make in new reprocessing systems and then multiply that by the thousands of hospitals and other facilities across the United States, you arrive at a significant cost,” stressed Ramona Conner, RN, MSN, CNOR, AORN manager of standards and recommended practices. “That’s why an organized and collaborative approach to transitioning from STERIS System 1 is so important.”
This webinar will be held on Feb. 4 at 4 p.m. Eastern Standard Time and is free to AORN members. Non-members will be charged a fee to access this webinar. Pre-registration is required.
