In these tough economic times when it can be difficult to listen to the news everyday, it is encouraging to look at some of the positive things going on around us. The AORN Foundation is pleased to share that we are continuing to offer ongoing support to the perioperative nursing community through funding patient safety initiatives, education grants and scholarships, and resources to help you care for your patients.
Specifically, the Foundation is working to address the issues that affect AORN members on a daily basis, such as the nursing shortage. With the average age of the perioperative nurse reaching 50 years old, we are committed to helping these leaders and mentors develop the next generation of caring perioperative nurses. Scholarships through the Foundation support students in basic nursing education as well as those pursuing a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree, thus helping to build a future generation of leaders with the unique knowledge and technical skills of the perioperative nursing profession.
Over the last five years, these programs and opportunities offered through the AORN Foundation have placed more than $2.5 million in the hands of AORN members. Please consider making a gift. Learn how to donate online, or contact the AORN Foundation to help at 800-755-2676. Thank you for supporting the nurses who make surgery safe.
