AORN Research Priorities & Advisory Group
Each year, the appointed Research Advisory Group reviews the AORN Research Priorities and reaffirms them or presents proposed revisions to the AORN Board of Directors for approval.
The following have been identified as priority areas for research:
- Perioperative nursing care that contributes to quality, cost-effective patient outcomes related to safety, physiological integrity, and behavioral responses.
- Monitoring and reporting systems that influence health and safety issues that affect perioperative nurses and patients.
- Continuous review of the literature to reveal evidence-based practice references.
- Data elements from perioperative nursing leadership management addressing recruitment/retention, resource management, effective teams, disruptive behavior, and conflict resolution.
AORN committees are appointed by the AORN President-elect each year and serve a term of one year beginning at AORN's annual Congress and terminating at Congress the following year.
