AORN Nursing Research Committee & Priorities

Each year, the appointed Nursing Research Committee reviews the AORN Research Priorities and reaffirms them or presents proposed revisions to the AORN Board of Directors for approval.

The following have been identified as priority areas for research:

  1. Develop collaborative relationships with Academic Research Institutions, Regulatory and Standard Setting Agencies for conducting research.
  2. Focus research priorities on patient outcomes and workforce issues.
  3. Develop a process for establishing perioperative programs of research.
  4. Review Congress Research Posters - a) scientific b) continuous process improvement.
  5. Review published studies or recommend content for Quiz Bowl.
  6. Evaluate research proposal and determine funding.

AORN committees are appointed by the AORN President-elect each year and serve a term of one year beginning at AORN's annual Congress and terminating at Congress the following year.
