Fire Safety Tool Kit

Dedication to Patients and Families

The AORN Perioperative Fire Safety Tool Kit is dedicated to the victims and survivors of surgical and procedural fires throughout the world.

AORN would like to especially thank the family members who shared their personal experiences, and who have contributed to the development of this valuable resource.

This comprehensive resource was created to raise perioperative staff awareness of the inherent realities of surgical and procedural fires, proactively deliver the tools needed to support fire prevention, advocate for collaborative planning of effective response strategies, and develop evidenced-based policies and procedures to protect perioperative patients and clinical team members.
