The Government Affairs department is organized to support advocacy on behalf of perioperative nurses before legislative   and regulatory bodies at both the state and federal levels.

Government Affairs actively promotes the Legislative Priorities established by the AORN Board of Directors to protect and enhance the profession of perioperative nursing.

Government Affairs monitors nursing and health care laws and regulations.  Through the National Legislative Committee and AORN State Legislative Coordinators, the Government Affairs department coordinates and engages AORN members that are active grassroots advocates to participate in the legislative and regulatory processes.

The Public Policy section of the web site has many resources to support all AORN members:

     2.   Are you ready to "Get Involved" and become a more active perioperative professional advocate?
           We have tools to help you:

           b.   Utilize AORN's education tools to equip you with the knowledge to be an effective perioperative 
                 legislative advocate.
           c.   Participate in AORN Grassroots activities.
           d.   Communicate directly with your elected officials using AORN's "Get Involved" resource with 
                 complete information on your elected officials and easy steps for you to communicate with 
                 them on AORN legislative priorities.
