AORN's Government Affairs Department in conjunction with the AORN National Legislative Committee (NLC) established five legislative regions with five Regional Coordinators. The Regional Coordinators, Board-appointed liaison(s), and 2 members at large make up the NLC. The NLC serves as the grassroots resource group to support the AORN legislative agenda. The NLC members work directly with each State Legislative Coordinator in their region to collect and disseminate information about public policy issues and initiatives in the individual states. The NLC members and State Legislative Coordinators are all volunteers who act as a "clearinghouse" on information on legislative and regulatory activity through communication with state chapters and councils in the states. The NLC and State Coordinators serve as the voice to and from local members on matters of public policy.
