Grassroots Challenge

How would you like to earn $100 to $250 from AORN to be used to support legislative activities in your state over the next eight months?

The National Legislative Committee has developed a financial incentive to help motivate you to grow the number of AORN members that participate in the volunteer program for AORN Grassroots advocacy. Here's how it works:

1.  If you increase the percentage of grassroots in your state to 12% you will be rewarded with $100.
2.  If you increase the percentage to 20% you will be rewarded with $250.
3.  The baseline percentage is the October 2, 2008 percentages posted on the Web site.
4.  The deadline for achieving the goal is December 19, 2008

We are so motivated to help you achieve this challenge that last week we did a special email to 32,000 AORN members that are not currently signed up for AORN Grassroots and invited them to sign up. Here is the information you will need and feel free to contact your NLC Regional Coordinator if you have any questions.

Just a couple of final comments regarding the reward for those that achieve 12% or 20% thresholds:

The money must be used by June 1, 2009 and be a one time check.

The request for the money must be made by the state coordinator in writing (email) and describe how the funds will be used based on the following guidelines:

1.  To support a state lobby day that includes perioperative nurse issues and participants. This might be a state council/ perioperative nurse only lobby day or it can be used as a contribution to help fund participation in the state nurse association lobby day that includes perioperative issues on its agenda and lobby goals.
2.  To help pay for a lobbyist. This could be directly as it relates to a perioperative issue undertaken by the chapters or state council or it can be a contribution to the state nurse association for their help on a perioperative nurse issue.
3.  To help pay for a NLC member to travel to a state activity related to legislative issues (lobby day, forming a state council legislative effort, speaker on grassroots at state meeting).
