AORN Kicks Off 2010 Legislative Sessions
As legislative sessions begin around the country, AORN is on the ground working to support the 2010 legislative priorities.
RN as circulator bill, SB 2579 was introduced in Mississippi.
RN as circulator bill, SF 394, to be heard in the Iowa House Human Resources Committee. The bill passed the Senate in 2009 and carried over this year for action by the House.
RN as circulator bill to be introduced in Connecticut Joint Committee on Publich Health.

Chapters stepping up in grassroots advocacy
As AORN expands its grassroots advocacy efforts, it is increasingly relying on the efforts of local chapters to extend its reach.
Efforts include the development of new tools, including web-based tools for chapters. The toolbox includes webinars on advocacy, a set of action steps for chapters, and a public policy road map. Read more+
Chapters: kick-start your advocacy
Vital public policy, such as RN circulator legislation and regulation, passed into law in 2009, and Pennsylvania is aspiring to be first to follow in 2010. Fortunately we have a strong group of nurses in the state and active chapters committed to our advocacy efforts. Since 2006, Pennsylvania grassroots members have been tirelessly working to pass RN as circulator legislation, and while we’ve had our ups and downs, we remain committed to see our work to enactment of a law. Sign up electronically to be a grassroots member! State councils and chapters can help encourage involvement by linking to the new form through their own Web site and blogs. By joining grassroots, you will receive action alerts on health care reform and legislative priority issues by state.
