2015 Outstanding Nurse Philanthropist

Vivian recently shared her message of appreciation and vision for the future, saying, "I wish to thank the Officers and Board of Trustees of the AORN Foundation for honoring me as the Nurse Philanthropist of the year. AORN and the Foundation work hand in hand to provide education, scholarships, and opportunities for nurses to reach excellence in their daily practice. I have been supportive of the Foundation for many years. This commitment has given me a feeling of joy and a sense of belonging to know I have touched lives in a small way, helping someone reach their dreams, and making a difference. It is up to us, the members of AORN, to belong, support, and be active in our professional organization if we are to be the very best we can be and deliver the ultimate, safe care to our patients.

My hope for the future, as I retire after 57 years of practice, is to see you, the members who have blessed my life, continue to stay the strong, involved nurses who provide the human touch to our patients daily. Our patients trust us. They know we care, and that is a priceless commodity. Keep this knowledge close to your heart, and use it on your journey, as you care for your patients. Again, you have enriched my life, and I thank you with all my heart.”

We are pleased to echo Vivian’s words of commitment and support to the perioperative profession. Thank you, Vivian, for your leadership and for providing such inspirational words for the future!
