Chapter and State Council Support Makes a Big Impact

Publish Date: 4/13/2015

Thank you to the many Chapters and State Councils who made donations to the AORN Foundation during the 2015 AORN Surgical Conference & Expo. Annually, each Chapter and State Council is asked to participate in the Chapter and State Council Challenge to raise funds needed for the Foundation’s professional development grants, academic scholarships, clinical practice tools, and resources.

This year, the Foundation tracked each gift made on a panel display at the Foundation booth, highlighting the progress of the Challenge throughout the Conference. The donations from the Chapters and State Councils totaled more than $6,500.

Several of the Chapters and State Councils presented their gifts to the Foundation at the Conference. AORN Foundation President Charlotte Guglielmi was honored to accept the contributions and thanked the presenters on behalf of the AORN Foundation Board of Trustees.

Northwest Georgia Chapter #1107 presented their donation from their Pickle Jar Challenge. At each Chapter meeting, a pickle jar is set out for members to put in their loose change. At the end of the year, the change is collected and tallied to give to the Foundation. Chapter President Holly Ervine explained it is a fun, easy way to support the Foundation, and the change really adds up.

The support from our Chapters and State Councils truly impacts the Foundation and is essential to the future of perioperative nursing.
