AORN of the Richmond Area, Chapter #4702, celebrated its 50th Anniversary on May 18, 2015, with a special dinner and installation ceremony for incoming officers and board members.
The event, held at Chez Max restaurant in Richmond, Virginia, was attended by 60 nurses and special guests including past chapter presidents, award winners, and members. The evening included a chapter history presentation and recognition of industry supporters.
Chapter President Janet Wingfield, RN, CNOR, presented Twilla Barlow, Director of the AORN Foundation, with a donation of $2,000 for the Foundation. Over the past 50 years, the Richmond Area Chapter has donated $54,000 to the Foundation. The Chapter established the Owens and Minor Endowed Educational Scholarship, named in recognition of that company’s 45 years of continued support.
Chapter Board member Bonnie Vencill, RN, CNOR, stated, “We are proud of our Chapter members and the impact they have on our patients and our community.” Thank you to the committee members and co-chairs Pam Wheadon, RN, CNOR, and Donna Winderweedle, RN, CNOR, for their time and effort to plan the memorable event.
