2016 Outstanding Nurse Philanthropist

Each year this award is given to a nurse who has truly demonstrated a strong philanthropic spirit and has motivated others to give of themselves. Trish was awarded this honor for her dedication as an exceptional perioperative nurse who has supported the AORN Foundation as well as other well-deserving organizations and demonstrated a true philanthropic spirit.

Trish has been champion for the Foundation since its inception, having served on both the Foundation and the AORN Board in leadership positions.  She has contributed significantly to the Foundation over the years in many ways, including funding an Endowed Scholarship that will support nursing education in perpetuity.

She is a very dedicated member of the AORN community, committing her time and energy to mentoring and motivating new nurses in perioperative practice and professional writing. Trish has said; “Helping others to succeed – whether as a mentor, financial supporter, or cheerleader is an important role, especially for those of us who have benefitted from the generosity of others.”

Her philanthropic spirit extends beyond AORN to include the ANA Foundation, American Academy of Nursing, Catholic University School of Nursing and Habitat for Humanity.  She is also an author of many of publications and books including a co-author of “Tea and Toast for the Perioperative Nurses Spirit.”
