AORN member Nancy Fellows, BA MPA MSN RN CNOR of Willoughby Hills, Ohio has been appointed by Governor John R. Kasich to serve on the Ohio Board of Nursing. Fellows is one of eight registered nurses to sit on the Board along with four licensed practical nurses and one consumer. The Board is charged with enforcement of the law and rules regulating practice as well as establishing the requirements individuals must meet to obtain a license to practice nursing in Ohio. In addition, the Board also approves nursing education programs, oversees the examination requirements of nurses and has the power to enforce penalties when a licensee violates the law.
Fellows is currently a Senior Clinical Education Consultant and GI specialist as well as the Council Vice President of the Willoughby Hills City Council. She has been very involved with AORN over the years and is presently serving as the National Scholarship Committee Chair and working as part of the Leadership Specialty Assembly. Fellows has also participated in the AORN Nominating Committee, served as a delegate to AORN Congress for nine years and has served as a legislative committee chair.
Fellows’ term on the Ohio Board of Nursing began January 7, 2013, and will run through December 31, 2016. AORN would like to congratulate her on this important achievement.
