AORN has submitted comments to the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services regarding the proposed adoption of new rules for Montana outpatient centers for surgical services. If adopted, the new rules would establish minimum licensing requirements for outpatient centers for surgical services.
Consistent with AORN’s Position Statement One Perioperative Registered Nurse Circulator Dedicated to Every Patient Undergoing a Surgical or Other Invasive Procedure, AORN has requested the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services include a requirement in the final rules for a RN circulator to be present in each operating room for the duration of each invasive procedure. Should Montana add a circulator requirement, it will join 16 other states that require a RN circulator in an ambulatory surgical setting.
