Many people worry summer is not a good time to start a job search, but consider these reasons why conventional thought might not be entirely accurate.
Potentially Shorter Interview Process
While summer vacation schedules can sometimes prolong the interview process, they can also expedite it. If the schedules of the decision-makers align, they’ll often accelerate the interview timetable to accommodate their summer absences.
The Jobs Are There
Facilities still need to hire even when everyone would rather be at the beach or in the mountains. If you stop or postpone searching, you could miss out on good opportunities.
Summer is a Social Time
If you’re just starting your search, don’t assume the summer is too slow to gain traction. Use the summer to research where you’d like to work, polish your resume, and rekindle personal contacts you may find attending a neighborhood barbecue or your child’s next baseball game.
Take advantage of the fact other job seekers are taking the summer off. When standing out from the competition can be a huge challenge to overcome, the fewer resumes in the pile, the better your chances will be.
