Chapter rosters and reports are available online at any time and in real-time, so if a member joins your Chapter you will see their name in the new member report almost immediately! All reports will download into an Excel file that will print on legal-size paper (with the exception of mailing label sheets).
- Only Chapter officers, Board of Directors, and Committee Chairs see the full complement of reports.
- Officers can only see the membership rosters and reports menu for their own Chapter or Chapters.
- Access to the reports requires your AORN login and password.

Effective August 1, 2009, all online Chapter member rosters and sign-in sheets are available ONLY to Chapter Officers, Board of Directors, and Committee Chairs. AORN wants to help you protect the information of your Chapter members, and what better way to do that then have all information/list requests go through the Chapter leaders. Filtering all Chapter information requests through the Officers, Board, and Committee chairs is an extra check and balance of what is being sent to your Chapter members. This will also decrease vulnerability of any potential liability regarding privacy issues. Always remember…Chapter member information is ONLY to be used for Chapter business, not personal convictions or promotions. As a Chapter officer, your members trust you to keep their information secure and private.
The CAN-SPAM (Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Marketing) Act of 2003 was signed into law by President George Bush, December 16, 2003. This Act protects individuals against commercial emails that solicit or sell something. One violation of this Act can be up to a $16,000 per individual penalty. Keep in mind that the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 requires you to respect any member’s wishes to opt-out of receiving email messages from your Chapter. Chapters with members in Canada must also follow Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation.
This act has gone through some fine tuning to help protect you and your members. More details are available online from Wikipedia at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAN-SPAM_Act_of_2003. A summary of the CAN-SPAM Act can be found online at www.spamlaws.com/federal/summ108.shtml#s877. Please communicate this information with your members and contact the Federal Trade Commission at 877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357) if you have any questions or concerns.
