Benefits of Certification

The CAIP® is an advanced certification* established in 2018 for ASC professionals and is the only perioperative certification for an ASC infection preventionist. Licensed health care professionals (eg., perioperative nurses, physicians), who have two years’ experience in infection control and who are responsible for an ASC’s infection control program, who attain certification are distinguished as a specialist in infection prevention.

Course objectives:

  1. Assess current knowledge of infection prevention in the ambulatory surgery setting
  2. Review evidence-based principles and practices related to infection prevention and control
  3. Enhance critical thinking skills related to perioperative infection prevention
  4. Develop a personal study plan for success
  5. Examine test taking strategies to maximize performance on an infection prevention certification exam
