Infection Prevention in Ambulatory Surgery Centers

Minimize Risk and Align to CMS Requirements

Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) staff and administrators will find critical information in this course to help meet CMS requirements for a credible infection prevention and control program in the ambulatory setting. The four-module course follows the CMS surveyor worksheet, focusing on the observations and assessments frequently made during regulatory visits to ASCs.

  1. Hand Hygiene
  2. Environmental Infection Control
  3. Safe Injection Practices
  4. Sterilization and Disinfection Part 1: Cleaning, Decontamination, and High-Level Disinfection
  5. Sterilization and Disinfection Part 2: Sterilization and Single-Use Device Reprocessing

Extension Fee

This course is accessible for four months from the date of enrollment. Extensions can be requested at a $50 fee per month (for a maximum of four months that must be consecutive). Request an extension with Customer Service at (800) 755-2676.

Contact Hours

Participants receive 6.8 Contact Hours after passing the Post Test in each module with a score of at least 80% and completing the Course Evaluation. Contact hours for this course will expire May 1, 2020.


This program is approved for 6.8 hours of AEU Credit by BASC Provider #0102. AEU credit is available upon request only by calling Experience Services at 800-755-2676.
