Last year, OR Excellence went fully virtual for the first time in its 12-year history. It was a resounding success. More than 2,000 attendees from across the country and around the world connected online to learn from a lineup of expert speakers and network with top surgical leaders. This year’s OR Excellence will also be fully virtual, giving you convenient access to 20 continuing education credits and a program packed with informative presentations conducted by nationally recognized expert speakers who will entertain and inform. The three-day live virtual meeting will take place Oct. 12-14, and the conference’s on-demand content will be available 24/7 for two months afterward.
We’re excited to have two renowned keynote speakers on the program. Marty Makary, MD, MPH, one of the nation’s leading voices in health policy and management, will kick off the conference with what’s sure to be a compelling look back at COVID-19 and where health care is headed in a post-pandemic world. On the conference’s second day, John Boockvar, MD, a world-famous neurosurgeon and star of Netflix’s critically acclaimed docuseries Lenox Hill, will teach you how to be more present and mindful in your professional and personal lives.
Registering for the conference will also give you access to two live workshops. Adolph Lombardi, MD, one of the nation’s top minimally invasive orthopedic specialists, will share insights on how to run a world-class joint replacement program. Katie Boston-Leary, PhD, MBA, MHA, RN, NEA-BC, of the Reach Initiative, and Cynthia Sweeney, DNP, MSN, RN, CNOR, NEA-BC, FAAN, CAPT, USNR, NC, formally of the Daisy Foundation, will team up to lead interactive discussions about advancing your career and developing a tight-knit team full of individual leaders who deliver excellent patient care.
You’ll see live check-ins with surgical teams who will share their creative solutions to everyday problems, and have access to networking lounges and the virtual exhibit hall where top vendors will provide information about leading surgical products and services. In many ways, Virtual OR Excellence provides a level of connectivity and interaction that’s unmatched by live conferences.
Carol Capella, RN, MSN, CNOR, who runs a GI center in Florida, is one of the many familiar faces we look forward to catching up with at OR Excellence. She’s a friend of the magazine and always attends the conference with her husband. Last year, even during the pandemic, she wouldn’t think of ruining her record of near perfect attendance.
“Donald and I so missed seeing everyone — going to the conference every year is like our family reunion,” she says. “But I logged on and once again it was an exceptional conference. Great speakers who provided great content that you can bring back to your center and actually utilize. I especially enjoyed the chat rooms where I was able to meet with peers one on one, and chat about our experiences and give suggestions about the issues we all face.”
We hope you join the OR Excellence family to meet Carol and so many other amazing surgical leaders who love to learn from others and share their knowledge built on years of hard work and practical experience. Head to orexcellence.com for more information about the program and make plans to attend the conference you’re sure to love and can’t afford to miss. We look forward to seeing you online in October!
