Yale Medicine in New Haven, Conn., runs one of the top total joint replacement programs in the country thanks to a talented and forward-looking team of providers who are continually advancing surgical techniques and pain-management protocols. Two of the program’s leaders will share the secrets of Yale’s success and what keeps the program at the forefront of what’s happening in outpatient orthopedic care during an interactive pre-conference workshop.
“We’re looking forward to engaging with surgical leaders who have a shared interest and passion for same-day total joint replacements,” says Lee Rubin, MD, a hip and knee surgeon at Yale Medicine.
Patient demand for same-day hip and knee replacements is driving cases to ASCs and hospital outpatient departments, points out Dr. Rubin, who says both settings have a challenge to perform the procedures in a properly designed and well-supported environment. “We will share our successes and challenges we experienced since opening our health system’s outpatient surgical center four years ago,” he says.
