Have your electronic medical records built so that you must enter vital information for meeting Surgical Care Improvement Project criteria before the records will finalize. This will ensure all critical SCIP data is entered the day of surgery, including requirements for prophylactic antibiotics started within 1 hour prior to surgical incisions and discontinued within 24 hours after surgery end times, appropriate hair removal and active warming used intraoperatively.
