Just months after acquiring Mazor Robotics, Medtronic has launched the Mazor X Stealth Edition for spine surgery, a platform that will make back procedures more precise by combining robotics with real-time image guidance and 3D navigation. The system, which combines Medtronic’s Stealth software with Mazor’s robotic-assisted surgery technology, offers real-time imaging feedback.

Sony’s MCC-1000MD surgical video camera delivers detailed, high-quality video, even in low-light conditions where it’s hard to place direct light within the surgical site. It’s ideally suited for such microsurgical applications as ophthalmology and neurology. A separate C-mount head lets you mount the 2-piece full HD camera on most surgical microscopes. It has several modes, including high dynamic range, and can capture surgical images with an expanded contrast range, making it ideal for viewing wet, glossy or heavily shadowed structures, says the company.
