The transition from pandemic slowdown to high-volume hustle can be difficult for staff who have been through a lot both professionally and personally. To help boost morale, look for easy-to-implement and creative ways to ensure everyone shares in your facility’s successes — and has some fun in the process. For instance, in April our facility hit the benchmark of performing 100 bilateral cataract cases for the first time. As a thank you for everyone’s hard work in hitting that number, each staff member received a $100 surprise bonus. The surprise was definitely appreciated, but the fun part was the creative way we marked the accomplishment: By decorating our medical director’s office with a barrage of cartoon eyes stuck all over the windows.
