Great ideas for your OR

Clean Wounds With Ease

BD has introduced the first ready-to-use aqueous povidone-iodine surgical wound irrigation solution. The Surgiphor Sterile Wound Irrigation System comes sterile, pre-labeled, pre-mixed and ready for one-time use. It’s easy to dispense with minimal grip pressure thanks to the bottle’s concave design. Povidone-iodine’s broad-spectrum antimicrobial effect prevents microbial growth in the solution and results in a 99% reduction in bacteria within the bottle.

A New Era in Robotic Surgery

Asensus Surgical received FDA 510(k) clearance for expanding the machine-vision-driven capabilities of its Senhance Surgical System, which digitizes the interface between surgeons and patients. The system already automatically adjusts the surgeon’s field of view based on the movements of instruments. With the latest FDA approval, the system has additional capabilities such as real-time 3D intraoperative measurements within the operative field, digital tagging of anatomical landmarks, image enhancement for clear and consistent views of surgery, and advanced camera controls based on the tracked locations of instruments — features that Asensus says will further improve performance-guided surgery.

Easy Access to Surface Wipes

PDI reengineered the lids of Sani-Cloth wipe containers to help surgical team members clean OR surfaces effectively and efficiently. The design of the new Dual Access Lid includes a wide opening for the fast dispensing of single or multiple wipes, a better thumb notch for easy opening and a secure flip cap closure to prevent wipes from drying out. A stable hinge that ensures the cap remains fully open during use snaps shut with a single touch.
