Cost-Effective Carpal Tunnel Release

Hand Biomechanics Lab (HBL) returns to the endoscopic carpal tunnel release (ECTR) space with a drop-in replacement disposable blade assembly for use with the 3M Agee Inside Job and MicroAire SmartRelease systems. The popular pistol-grip solution was developed by HBL founder John Agee, MD. A six pack of blades costs $545 — about half the price of the current standard device, according to HBL. If a surgeon performs 100 ECTR procedures annually, HBL says its device could save the facility as much as $10,000 per year.

Easy and Effective Instrument Cleaning

Certol’s new ProEZ Gel Pre-Treatment Gel for precleaning instruments and devices at the point of use is formulated for targeted breakdown of soil on surfaces and to sustain moisture to prevent the formation of biofilm until the tools are cleaned in sterile processing. The gel is compatible with a variety of devices and protects instruments by dissolving blood that can corrode surfaces and vulnerable jointed areas. The gel’s activity breaks down soils and maintains moisture for up to 72 hours, making it appropriate for use as a spot treatment on instruments if case carts are backed up in sterile processing.
