IOM Update: AORN Joins Champion Nursing Coalition
Publish Date: 10/10/2012
AORN formally joined the Champion Nursing Coalition/Council this month in support of the IOM Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action. AORN now stands with the AARP and more than 80 other nursing, consumer, purchaser, and health care provider organizations in a shared goal of achieving a health care system that provides seamless, equitable, accessible quality care for every American.
AORN is committed to working to ensure its constituents, including members and partner organizations, understand the impact that nurses have on our nation’s health care delivery system. AORN and the Coalition’s partners believe that the nursing profession is central to efforts to remake the U.S. health care system, and will advocate for enhanced investments in nursing education, the removal of burdensome practice barriers to care, increasing nurses in leadership roles, collaboration among health care professionals, and overall diversity of the nursing workforce. AORN is honored to be among the nation’s leading nursing organizations driving change as a result of the IOM Future of Nursing report.
