New Module!
Caring for the Older Adult in the Perioperative Setting
  

This new module will look at the various physiological changes that take place in the older adult, communication skills, pain management, and concerns with transferring and positioning the older adult.

Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment Ernestine Kotthoff-Burrell, PhD, APRN, FAANP

Course Description 
With the number of elderly patients on the rise, now is the time to update your clinical knowledge base regarding the latest evidence based practice guidelines when caring for the older adult in your operating room. This dynamic speaker and geriatric expert will discuss how to fine tune your assessment skills as well as identify the latest trends in medication and therapies the older adult may need.

This course was presented at the 2010 AORN Congress. It can be purchased separately for $10 to earn 1.5 contact hours.  

Caring for an Aging Surgical Population  

This video and accompanying study guide presents a case study approach to:
        • review the physiologic effects of aging
        • describe mental status and psychosocial assessments of elderly surgical 
          patients
        • plan and evaluate health instruction for these patients and their family members

Perioperative Care of the Older Adult  

This Periop Mastery Program module deals with:
        • physiological conditions 
        • physical safety and optimal outcomes 
 

 Accreditation 
AORN is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

AORN is Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number CEP 13019. Check with your state board of nursing for acceptability of education sessions for relicensure.
