Available for free download from the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives, "The CIO's Guide to Implementing EHRs in the HITECH Era" has 80 pages worth of advice on understanding the government's funding incentives, building physician and executive support for EHRs, and all the planning, staffing and training needed for a smooth go-live process. The guidebook aims to provide healthcare information managers and CIOs with the knowledge they need to successfully implement EHRs and qualify for any federal stimulus money available to their organizations.

"As the nation's leading professional organization for healthcare IT executives, we felt it was important to gather the collective wisdom of our members and produce a guide that could help the nation's providers through the next few years," said CHIME Board President Timothy Stettheimer, PhD, FCHIME, CHCIO, in a statement.
