SourceMedical has acquired Serbin Surgery Center Billing (SCB) in a transaction that will expand the software provider's services to include billing and revenue cycle management.
"The combination of the two companies provides SourceMedical's more than 2,250 ASC and specialty hospital clients with access to a highly experienced ASC billing service that seamlessly integrates into their clinical and management software," SourceMedical announced today in a press release.
Noting that SCB was already using SourceMedical technology to provide its billing services, SourceMedical CEO Larry McTavish said the acquisition was "a logical expansion" for the software company. "Our objective was to leverage our very deep product expertise, industry knowledge and client relationships to supply services that our products traditionally enabled through point-to-point interfaces," he explained in a phone interview.
SCB President Caryl Serbin will bring her management team onboard SourceMedical's new Revenue Cycle Solutions division to provide ASC billing services and other planned product and service offerings. Her ASC management company, Surgery Consultants of America, is not part of the transaction and will discontinue its operations.
"We recognize the strength of our combined organizations and feel strongly that this will provide the ASC market with a unique solution which provides unprecedented control and flexibility in the hands of the surgery center," said Ms. Serbin in a press release.
